I am delighted to inform you that the Leamington and Warwick telephone exchange has now been fully enabled with “ADSL2+”. This is the latest and fastest version of broadband available in the UK.
Previously the best service was ‘DSL Max’ which means your current maximum download speed is 8Mb, and maximum upstream is 0.4Mb. This speed is heavily dependent on the length of your phone line from the telephone exchange, and the speed you actually receive maybe less than half this.
With ADSL2+ your maximum download speed is 21Mb and maximum upstream is 1.5Mb. This is also heavily dependent on the telephone line length and its quality, but it is a significant improvement on the old version!
Depending which ISP you use there is generally no monthly cost difference for the new service, but you may need to replace or upgrade your router to get access to these new speeds in full. If your router is already labelled as ADSL2+ compatible you should be able to take full advantage of these speeds without changing equipment however the router may need reconfiguring or require a software upgrade.
