How to check backups in SBS 2008
Please note: Impirius recommend that backups are checked daily. It is the sole responsibility of the client to check backups. This document details in brief how to check your daily backups (to removable media) on Windows Small Business Server 2008.
Please change your backup media every working day, and once a month backup to your monthly drive. The purpose of the monthly backup is to remove the possibility of losing data and not noticing within a week by which time you will have over written all your daily backups.
1. Log on to the server.
2. Open the Windows SBS Console window from the desktop.
3. Select the Backup and Server Storage tab.
4. Here you will see the status of the last backup procedure; a green tick indicates a successful backup.
5. If you wish to check previous backups, click on the current job to highlight it. Now on the right side of the page under the tasks menu, click on view previous backups. This will display the status of all previous backups.
The green tick and ‘Success’ message indicates that your backup was successful! You can now close this window. Note, you may need to close and reopen this window to refresh the screen with the latest information, especially if you leave this window open while a backup is in progress.

If there is a red cross or ‘Failure’ message instead of the ‘Success’ message, your backup has failed. Before contacting Impirius please ensure that there is always a drive connected before the backup is due to begin.
