POP3 Access In Outlook 2003
How to set up Outlook 2003 for a POP3 account
The instructions below are based on Microsoft Outlook 2003. Other versions of Outlook may be slightly different.
1. Load Microsoft Outlook. *If this is the first time you have opened the application, enter a profile name in the box provided and click ‘OK’. Then skip to step(3).
2. From the ‘Tools’ menu, select ‘E-mail Accounts’.
3. Select ‘Add a new e-mail account’ and click ‘Next’.
4. Select ‘POP3’ and click ‘Next’.
5. Enter the name you’d like to display when other people read e-mail from you, and also the e-mail address for this account.
6. For the ‘Incoming Mail Server (POP3)’ and ‘Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)’enter: Mail.domain.co.uk – replacing the word domain with your specific domain name. e.g. mail.impirius.co.uk
7. Enter your Username which is the E-Mail address you entered during step (5). Enter your Password in the box below.
8. Next, click on the ‘More Settings’ button.
9. In the ‘Outgoing Server’ tab, put a tick in the box that says “My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication”. Check that the ‘use same settings as my incoming mail server’ option is selected. Then click OK.
10. When the previous window returns, click on Test account settings, and wait for confirmation that the information you have entered is correct, and there are no error messages. Then click on the ‘Close’ button
11. Now click on ‘Next’. You will see a window confirming setup is complete. Then click ‘Finish’
Microsoft Outlook 2003 is now setup to send and receive email using the email address that you have setup. It is possible to add more email addresses so that you can send and receive email for 10, 20 or more email addresses. To do this, just repeat the above steps for the other email addresses.
